Marco Titus is an operatically trained tenor based in Cape Town. Marco attends the South African College of Music at University of Cape Town under the tutelage of Professor Virginia Davids and is currently in his third year of study. Mr. Titus made his first stage debut at the age of eight as Tiny Tim in A Christmas Carol at the Victoria Theatre, UK, performing to the likes of Prince Edward and Princess Sophie. His South African opera debut was as the Third Boy in William Kentridge’s highly acclaimed The Magic Flute at the Artscape Opera House. He has performed in several joint University of Cape Town and Cape Town Opera productions over the last two years with directors such as Christine Crouse, Matthew Wild, and Dr. Angelo Gobbato. He recently sang Gastone in Cape Town Opera’s upcoming production of Verdi’s La Traviata. His last role, as Nanki-Poo in the Cape Town Gilbert and Sullivan Society’s production of The Mikado toured England where he was nominated as best male voice at the 23rd annual Gilbert and Sullivan festival. Mr. Titus is also part of the newly formed theatre collective, Kleisand, who tell South African stories through music, poetry and dance. They will be performing in the upcoming US Woordfees and have been invited to take part in the Grahamstown South African National Arts Festival.
